Microsoft has unveiled its vision for advanced AI agents capable of remembering user interactions and collaborating across platforms, potentially transforming the way people engage with technology.
Ahead of its annual Build conference in Seattle, Microsoft’s CTO Kevin Scott shared details about new AI standards and memory technologies. A key highlight is Microsoft’s support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP), developed by Google-backed Anthropic, which enables AI agents from different companies to share context and work together — similar to how early internet protocols enabled the World Wide Web.

Scott emphasized that this initiative opens doors for creativity, allowing developers to shape the “agentic web” instead of it being dominated by a few tech giants.
To make AI systems more context-aware, Microsoft is also working on enhancing their memory through a technique called structured retrieval augmentation. This method allows AI agents to retain compact summaries of conversations, making future interactions more personalized and efficient without reprocessing everything from scratch.
These innovations mark a step toward AI tools that are smarter, more helpful, and capable of understanding users better over time.
