NASA has announced that the return of astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore from the International Space Station (ISS) will be delayed until at least late March, extending their mission to over nine months. Originally, the duo was scheduled to stay on the ISS for just eight days as part of a test mission launched in June. However, their return was postponed due to the Boeing Starliner capsule being deemed unfit for the journey back to Earth.

NASA revealed that Williams, Wilmore, and fellow astronauts Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov will return to Earth following the launch of the Crew-10 mission, which is now expected to depart for the ISS in late March. The delay will allow Crew-9 to work with Crew-10 during a handover period, sharing insights to ensure smooth operations for ongoing scientific and maintenance activities aboard the space station.
Originally planned for February, Crew-10’s mission was postponed to allow for additional processing of the new Dragon spacecraft, which will be used to ferry the astronauts to the ISS.
