OpenAI has pushed back the release of its custom GPT store to early 2024, as revealed in an internal memo obtained by Reuters on Friday. The initial plan was to launch the custom GPTs and store in November, following the introduction at the first developer conference.
The delay is attributed to ongoing enhancements to the GPTs based on user feedback, according to the memo. This development comes amid the unexpected removal and subsequent reinstatement of OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, following employee threats to resign.
GPTs, early AI assistant versions designed for real-world tasks, were anticipated to enable users to share and monetize their GPTs based on user engagement.
