Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 2024 - Latest updates

Finally, Toyota has introduced the 250 Series 2024 Land Cruiser Prado, embracing a “back to basics” approach to create a reliable and robust vehicle that meets customers’ lifestyle choices and practical needs with the Light Duty model.
This new Prado shares the GA-F variant of the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) with the Prado 300 Series, as well as the current Lexus GX and LX. Compared to its predecessor, the 2024 Prado boasts 50% more frame rigidity and 30% more total rigidity.
In terms of suspension, the vehicle features double wishbone suspension in the front with twin-tube shocks and a multi-link rear with coil springs, promising enhanced fundamental suspension performance and wheel articulation.
For the first time in the line of new-generation off-roaders, the 2024 Prado employs electric power steering and the Stabiliser Disconnect Mechanism (SDM) to optimize both off-road performance and on-road handling stability. Additional rough-terrain systems include the Multi-Terrain Monitor and Multi-Terrain Select.

The new Prado is larger than its predecessor, with increased dimensions in length, width, height, and wheelbase, bringing it closer in size to the full-sized Land Cruiser. The design of the 250 Series is boxy and angular, resembling the GX model with prominent wheel arches, a stepped beltline, narrow pillars, and an elevated bonnet. There are two front-end options available, with one featuring circular headlamps and edge-mounted turn signals inspired by the 70 Series, while the other boasts modern, squared-off headlights.
Inside the 250 Series, the interior remains consistent across all versions, offering a low beltline, cowl, and instrument panel top surface to improve visibility. The dashboard’s big touchscreen is intentionally not overloaded with features to ensure easy controls from the driver’s seat. Physical buttons and knobs regulate the three-zone climate system, drive modes, four-wheel drive system, and media playback. The driver-centric layout includes a substantial steering wheel and computerized instrument cluster. Additionally, the new Prado comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense and offers three rows of seats as standard.

Regarding powertrain options, the 250 Series Land Cruiser Prado offers five different choices depending on the market. North America and China receive a hybridized T24A-FTS 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, while the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and selected markets get a non-hybrid T24A-FTS with the same engine configuration. Australia and Western Europe are provided with a 1GD-FTV 2.8-liter inline-four turbodiesel with a mild hybrid system, and other regions receive the same engine without the mild hybrid setup. Base variants may come with a 2TR-FE 2.7-liter naturally-aspirated inline four-cylinder petrol engine, while some regions receive a six-speed Super-ECT automatic gearbox with this engine.
Exact pricing and further details of the upcoming Prado will be disclosed during the official launch.
