WhatsApp, one of the world’s most popular messaging platforms, continues to expand its features to improve user security and convenience. The Meta-owned application is used by more than three billion people worldwide. Over the years, WhatsApp has become a key communication tool for personal and professional conversations.
However, the platform’s massive user base also creates new security challenges. With the rise of artificial intelligence and advanced hacking tools, digital platforms must constantly strengthen their protection systems. To address these concerns, WhatsApp is working on several new features aimed at improving privacy and user experience.
One of the most notable upcoming changes is a new password system for accounts. This optional feature will allow users to add an extra layer of security to their accounts. The password must contain between six and twenty characters. It will also require at least one letter and one number.
Once the feature is enabled, users will need to enter the password after completing the usual six-digit verification code. This additional step will make it more difficult for unauthorized users to access accounts. The feature is currently under development and is expected to appear in future updates.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp Business users on iOS are seeing a major design change. The platform is testing a new interface called “Liquid Glass.” This modern design uses transparency effects to create a smooth and floating visual style. The tab bar appears semi-transparent and blends with the chat background.
Other interface elements are also being updated. The keyboard and context menus now match the new design style. The update is currently available to a limited number of users and may expand in later versions.
Another feature being developed is scheduled messaging. This tool will allow users to write messages and choose a specific time for delivery. The messages will automatically be sent at the selected date and time.
Users will also be able to view their scheduled messages in a special section within the chat information screen. If needed, they can delete or modify the messages before they are delivered.
WhatsApp is also working on a spoiler formatting option. This feature will hide message content until the recipient taps on it. It will help users share sensitive or surprise information without revealing it immediately.
Additionally, improvements are being made to the media gallery. New filters will allow users to sort content by photos, videos, GIFs, or stickers. This will make it easier to locate specific files in busy conversations.
Group chats are also receiving updates. A new feature will allow group administrators to decide whether recent chat history should be shared with new members. Up to 14 days of messages can be included by default.
