WhatsApp Tests Powerful New Privacy Settings for Android Users

WhatsApp

WhatsApp is testing a major privacy upgrade for Android users that could give them greater control over shared media and conversations. The feature, called Advanced Chat Privacy, is part of the app’s beta version 2.25.10.4.

The new setting would stop recipients from automatically saving photos and videos to their gallery. Instead, a notification will appear, warning that media-saving has been blocked due to the sender’s privacy settings.

In addition to media restrictions, WhatsApp may soon limit chat exports if any participant has enabled Advanced Chat Privacy. Interactions with Meta’s AI assistant could also be disabled in such conversations, further boosting privacy.

This update would expand privacy options beyond disappearing messages, allowing users to apply strong privacy rules even in normal chats.

The feature is still under development and not yet available to the public. Its final release depends on testing outcomes.
