A shocking case has been reported in Okara, Punjab, where a 20-year-old married girl was sold to brothels by her in-laws. Police confirmed that the victim’s brother-in-law and father-in-law sold her for Rs50,000.
The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Saddar Police Station. Reports revealed that the married girl was taken to a group of brothels in Khanewal, where she was raped for nearly a month. The case came to light after she managed to escape and return home.
According to police, a case has been registered on the complaint of the victim’s husband. The married girl, who is also the mother of two children, shared details of her suffering. Police have arrested one suspect, while raids are ongoing to capture another who is still at large.
In another case, Lahore police arrested a man accused of raping a university student under the false promise of marriage. The suspect allegedly tricked the student, recorded inappropriate videos, and later used them for blackmail. Investigators identified the accused as Abdul Rehman. The matter has been handed over to the Gender Cell for further investigation.
Separately, in Bahawalpur, an 11-year-old girl was raped in the jurisdiction of Baghdad Aljadeed police station. Police said the child was returning from madrassa when a suspect took her to nearby fields and assaulted her. The girl was shifted to Victoria Hospital, and efforts are underway to arrest the accused.
These disturbing incidents highlight the growing concerns about women’s and children’s safety in Punjab. Police officials have assured that strict legal action will be taken against all suspects involved in these crimes.
