Pakistan Observes 78th Independence Day with National Fervor

Pakistan is celebrating its 78th Independence Day on Thursday with widespread enthusiasm across the country. The day began with a 31-gun salute in the Federal Capital and 21-gun salutes at provincial capitals. Special prayers were held in mosques to seek peace, prosperity, and national unity.

The main flag hoisting ceremony took place at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad, where Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif unfurled the national flag.

Buildings across the country have been decorated with flags, buntings, and lights. Citizens proudly raised the national flag on rooftops and vehicles. Radio Pakistan is also airing special programs to mark the occasion.

President Asif Ali Zardari extended heartfelt congratulations to the nation on Pakistan Independence Day. He highlighted the sacrifices and courage of the nation’s founders, paying tribute to Allama Iqbal and the leaders of the Pakistan Movement.

The president praised recent victories in the “Marka-e-Haq” and Operation Bunyan‑e‑Maroos, calling them golden chapters in Pakistan’s history that demonstrated unity, professionalism, and resilience in defending the nation.

He emphasized that Pakistan has earned global recognition for safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity. The president reiterated the country’s support for the people of Indian-administered Kashmir, promising diplomatic and moral assistance until justice is achieved.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his Independence Day message, expressed gratitude to Allah and congratulated the nation. He honored Quaid‑e‑Azam, Allama Iqbal, and all freedom movement leaders. The prime minister described Pakistan’s 78-year journey as one of trials, faith, and achievement.

He lauded the armed forces for their courage and skill during the recent “Marka-e-Haq,” which he said strengthened national pride and unity.

The prime minister also remembered martyrs whose sacrifices continue to inspire the nation. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to defending its territorial integrity and pursuing regional peace through diplomacy.

On this Pakistan Independence Day, the country celebrated not only its freedom but also its resilience, progress, and unwavering spirit.
