Popular singer Asim Azhar and actress Merub Ali have officially ended their engagement, asking fans for privacy and understanding during what they described as a mutual and respectful decision.
Late Wednesday night, Asim Azhar took to Instagram to announce that, after considerable thought and introspection, both he and Merub had agreed to go their separate ways.

“Merub and I have peacefully and mutually decided to part ways,” he wrote. “Though we shared many special moments and sincerely envisioned a future together, life has its own plans.”
The message continued with an appeal for empathy: “We deeply respect one another and our families and always will. We kindly request your privacy during this period and hope our decision is received with the same grace with which it is being shared.”
The couple’s engagement took place in March 2022 in a private family ceremony and was revealed through matching Instagram posts. One photo showed Asim dressed in a white shalwar kameez, gazing at Merub, who held a small gift. Another captured the moment she placed a ring on his finger, wearing a traditional long shirt and trousers.
Throughout their relationship, Asim and Merub kept their private lives largely out of the spotlight, though they occasionally appeared together at events and supported each other’s work publicly.
