Bilawal Bhutto Mistakenly Said, "Aap Ungli Detey Hain Wo Pora"

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari once again attracted attention due to a humorous slip of the tongue. While speaking at an event at the Sindh Bar Council in Karachi, he tried to translate the English proverb, “Give someone an inch, and they will take a mile,” into Urdu but stumbled, saying, “Aap ungli detey hain wo pora…” which drew immediate laughter.

Realizing his mistake, Bilawal laughed at himself and jokingly asked, “How many memes will come from this gaffe?” His playful reaction resonated with the audience, including lawyers and media personnel, who joined in the laughter.

The moment quickly went viral on social media, with many sharing clips of the incident under the catchy phrase “Aap Ungli Detey Hain Wo Pora – Bilawal Bhutto slip of tongue.”

This isn’t the first time Bilawal’s Urdu translations have drawn attention. While he is known for his strong command of English, he has occasionally struggled with Urdu idioms, leading to memorable moments in the past.

During his speech, Bilawal discussed essential judicial reforms, advocating for a constitutional federal court with judges from all provinces.

He criticized the existing judicial system for inflating 15 percent of constitutional cases into 90 percent and called for balanced reforms. However, it was his humorous translation error that became the highlight of the event.

The phrase “Aap Ungli Detey Hain Wo Pora” has since become a trending topic, inspiring social media users to create memes and jokes around the slip of the tongue.
