Bomb Hoax Causes Chaos in Over 40 Schools in India's Capital New Delhi

Over 40 schools in Delhi, including DPS RK Puram and GD Goenka School in Paschim Vihar, received an email bomb threat, causing widespread panic among students and staff. The email, sent late on Sunday night, claimed multiple bombs had been planted inside school buildings and demanded $30,000 for their defusal.

The email warned of potential injuries, stating, “The bombs are small and well-hidden… It won’t cause major damage to the building, but many people will be hurt when the bombs explode.”

Delhi Police, alerted by calls from the schools early Monday morning, dispatched bomb detection teams, dog squads, and local officers to conduct extensive searches. No suspicious objects were found, and the threat was later declared a hoax. Authorities are now tracing the email’s IP address to identify the sender.

Delhi Police spokesperson Sanjay Tyagi reassured the public of increased security at schools, stating, “We are committed to ensuring the safety of all children and will take immediate action against the perpetrator.”

The incident has sparked strong criticism of the central government’s handling of law and order in the capital. Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal questioned Home Minister Amit Shah about the rising insecurity, saying, “Delhi has never seen such poor law and order before.”

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and AAP leader Manish Sisodia also condemned the worsening security situation, with Sisodia raising concerns about children’s safety, stating, “If the capital isn’t safe, what is the central government doing?”

This incident follows a similar bomb hoax targeting CRPF schools in October, raising further alarms about public safety. The Delhi Police continues to investigate the matter to hold those responsible accountable and prevent future incidents.
