In a harrowing incident in Muzaffargarh, a nurse successfully prevented a potential rape and murder by sending her live location to a female doctor while feeling uncomfortable with her rickshaw driver on the way home.
The nurse quickly alerted her colleague, who promptly called the police. Although the authorities arrived just in time, the suspects managed to flee before they could be apprehended.

This alarming event underscores the increasing violence against women in Pakistan. A particularly shocking case in Hafizabad involved a woman who was gang-raped in front of her husband and young daughter by robbers.
When the family sought help from the police, officers from two districts squabbled over jurisdiction instead of providing assistance. This delay allowed the attackers to escape, illustrating the failures of the legal system in protecting victims.
The statistics are equally concerning: in 2024 alone, over 200 women were assaulted in Lahore, and in 2023, there were 6,624 reported rape cases across Pakistan, with a significant number occurring in Lahore and Faisalabad.
From 2017 to 2021, approximately 21,900 women were raped, averaging about 12 attacks per day. Many victims remain reluctant to seek help due to fear and stigma, highlighting the urgent need for improved protection and support for women in the country.
