A shocking incident of sexual harassment has recently come to light at Islamia University Bahawalpur, where a lecturer has been accused of preying on female students in exchange for grades. The accused, Ahmed Mahmood, a lecturer in Software Engineering, was exposed by a local TV investigative show that revealed his disturbing tactics of academic blackmail and sexual coercion.
In an undercover sting operation, Mahmood was caught red-handed when he intentionally failed female students and then contacted them privately, offering to help them pass in exchange for sexual favors. The scandal deepened as it was revealed that male students were also reportedly forced to bribe him for better grades, further exposing a culture of corruption within the institution.
The shocking incident was captured on hidden cameras, where Mahmood was seen trying to seduce a female student with promises of a laptop and shopping spree while making inappropriate physical advances. He believed his actions were happening in secret until he was confronted by Sar-e-Aam operatives during the act.
Faced with the undeniable evidence, Mahmood broke down and confessed to his actions. He was immediately arrested, and Islamia University Bahawalpur’s administration banned him from entering the campus and launched an investigation through its Anti-Harassment Committee.
The scandal has sparked outrage among students, with many expressing their anger at the abuse of power and the unchecked behavior that allowed such actions to continue. This incident has raised serious concerns about the culture of sexual harassment in Pakistani universities, and students and activists are calling for greater accountability and action to prevent further abuse.
Islamia University Bahawalpur’s handling of the situation is under intense scrutiny, as the university community seeks justice and an end to the widespread abuse of power in academic institutions.
