Man Arrested for Murdering Niece in the Name of 'Honour'

Police have apprehended a man suspected of murdering his 17-year-old niece in an alleged honour killing in the Jalti area.

As per the initial inquiry, the suspect, identified as Waseem, poisoned his niece, Naleen Zahra, and buried her body in an attempt to make her death appear natural.

Upon receiving reports of the victim’s suspicious demise, Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani took notice and directed authorities to take immediate legal action.

A team of investigators, led by Saddar SP, exhumed the body and carried out a post-mortem examination, uncovering crucial evidence. Subsequently, a murder case was filed on behalf of the state.

According to police officials, the primary suspect is currently under investigation, while efforts are underway to arrest his accomplices and facilitators. Authorities have assured that the accused will be prosecuted with substantial evidence.

CPO Hamdani emphasized that by initiating legal proceedings, Rawalpindi police have demonstrated their commitment to seeking justice for the victim.
