Pakistan Downs 77 Indian Drones, Confirm Security Sources

The Pakistan Army intercepted and destroyed 77 Israeli-made Heron drones, which were reportedly sent by India to target civilian and military facilities. Security sources confirmed that 29 drones were intercepted from Wednesday to Thursday evening, with an additional 48 shot down overnight into Friday.

On the Line of Control (LoC), Indian shelling on civilian areas led to the martyrdom of five civilians and left seven others injured. The shelling, using heavy artillery, struck Hajeera, Forward Kahuta, and Khuiratta, causing both casualties and significant damage to infrastructure.

Indian forces are continuing to use heavy artillery to target civilian populations along the LoC, prompting the Pakistan Army to respond swiftly and effectively. Security sources also reported that after sustained retaliation by Pakistan, Indian troops raised a white flag near the Dharamsal 2 post in the Battal sector.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have intensified following a deadly attack in Pahalgam, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on April 22, which killed 26 people, mostly tourists. India accused Pakistan-based elements of the attack but provided no supporting evidence, which Pakistan has strongly denied.

In retaliation, India took various diplomatic and administrative actions, including closing the Wagah-Attari border, suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, and revoking Pakistani visas. Pakistan responded by sealing the Wagah border and warning that any interference with water flow would be considered an act of war.

On the night of May 6-7, Indian forces conducted missile, air, and drone strikes on several Pakistani locations, including Sialkot, Shakargarh, Muridke, Bahawalpur, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad. These attacks resulted in the deaths of at least 31 civilians, including women and children, and left 71 others injured, with infrastructure such as mosques and the Neelum–Jhelum Hydropower Project being damaged.

In retaliation, Pakistan’s military reported shooting down five Indian Air Force jets, including three Rafale jets, one MiG-29, and one SU-series jet, as well as an Israeli-made Heron drone. These aircraft were downed in areas including Bhatinda, Jammu, Akhnoor, Srinagar, and Avantipur.
