Jinnah Hospital Faces Probe as Equipment Worth Rs1 Crore Goes Missing

LAHORE – A major scandal has surfaced at Lahore’s Jinnah Hospital, where medical equipment worth over Rs12 million has reportedly gone missing. The incident has raised serious concerns about internal accountability and management within the city’s leading healthcare facility.

According to reports, the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education has issued a show-cause notice to Dr. Shabbir Hussain over the matter.

The missing items include operation theater tables, hospital beds, wheelchairs, air conditioners, and various pieces of furniture. The sudden disappearance of such essential equipment has sparked a detailed investigation into the hospital’s operations.

A three-member inquiry committee was formed to probe the case. In its report, the committee provided substantial evidence suggesting the alleged involvement of Dr. Shabbir Hussain in the misappropriation.

Investigators believe that the equipment was deliberately removed or concealed, indicating a serious breach of responsibility at Jinnah Hospital.

The show-cause notice warns that strict disciplinary action will follow if a satisfactory explanation is not submitted within the given timeframe. Authorities stressed that no compromise will be made on accountability, especially in matters that directly affect public healthcare services.

Health Department officials confirmed that further investigations are ongoing to identify all those involved in the scandal. They assured that appropriate measures will be taken to recover the missing items and prevent such incidents in the future.

The case has raised concerns about oversight and management practices at Jinnah Hospital, which serves thousands of patients daily.

Officials emphasized that restoring transparency and public trust in the healthcare system remains their top priority.
