Saudi Arabia has ramped up security for Hajj by deploying the US-made Patriot missile defense system around Makkah. The Saudi Ministry of Defence has shared images showcasing the advanced missile system positioned near the holy city, marking a crucial effort to safeguard millions of pilgrims attending the annual pilgrimage.
In addition to missile defenses, military helicopters have been deployed to conduct aerial surveillance over Masjid al-Haram and its surrounding areas.

Saudi officials state that these enhanced security measures aim to protect pilgrims during their spiritual journey, especially this year with an expected large turnout.
The Patriot system, equipped with cutting-edge technology, is capable of intercepting ballistic missiles, drones, and other airborne threats.
The use of aerial patrols complements the missile defense deployment, reinforcing the overall security framework. Saudi authorities have highlighted that ensuring the safety of pilgrims is their highest priority, taking every possible step to create a secure environment for worshippers during Hajj.
