Vidya Balan recently expressed her admiration for the movie Sanam Teri Kasam after watching it in theaters. The romantic drama, which originally released in 2016, has gained renewed popularity after its re-release on February 7, 2025.
Although it was a box office disappointment when first released, the film has become a hit now, with theaters filled with audiences eager to watch the love story of Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane’s characters.

On Instagram, Vidya shared her thoughts on the film, praising both the movie and its cast, particularly Mawra Hocane. She posted the official film poster and wrote, “Enjoyed watching this simple love story in the theatre! Congrats to #Mawra #HarshvardhanRane #RadhikaRao #VinaySapru #KaleemKhan @mawrellous @harshvardhanrane @sapruandrao @deepakmukut. Mawra aap kamaal ho,” meaning “Mawra, you are amazing.”
The re-release of Sanam Teri Kasam has been an unexpected success. The film earned Rs 4.25 crore on its first day, more than tripling its original opening, and the following day saw a 15% increase in earnings, reaching Rs 5 crore, bringing the total to Rs 9.50 crore. Mawra Hocane shared her excitement about seeing her movie poster displayed in Mumbai after nine years, writing, “I can’t believe this.”
Harshvardhan Rane also spoke about the film’s journey, recalling that the film did not perform as expected in 2016. Reflecting on the film’s re-release, he said, “Everyone kept asking me to bring this film back. It’s been nine years, and each year people lost hope, but my faith only grew stronger.”
