On Thursday, Meta-owned WhatsApp announced the release of a new security upgrade designed to make users feel comfortable when they receive a message from an unknown number.
According to WaBetaInfo, the new update, version 2.23.16.6, is being issued through the Google Play Beta Program.

The safety tools are currently accessible to some beta testers who have installed the most recent version of Android WhatsApp and will be made available to additional users in the coming days.
WhatsApp, which is constantly upgrading its user interface, plans to introduce beneficial capabilities to help consumers feel safe and secure while receiving messages from unknown phone numbers.
Apart from showing what users can do when they get a text from someone unknown, the safety tools also ensure that the recipient is ignorant whether or not their text has been read.
“This feature is especially useful when dealing with messages from unknown contacts and the’read receipts’ option is enabled,” a WhatsApp observer explained.
If you receive a message from someone you don’t know, the sender won’t know if you read it unless you reply or add the contact to your address book.
This function not only protects users’ privacy but also gives them control over interactions.
