Spanish pastry chef Marc Suárez has created an extraordinary Wedding Cake for a Saudi royal couple in Paris. The massive creation weighs around 500 kilograms and stands 3.5 meters tall.
The cake was prepared for a wedding ceremony held at the famous Opéra Garnier in Paris. Its impressive size and detailed decoration made it look more like an art installation than a traditional dessert.
According to the details provided, the Wedding Cake features around 33,000 handcrafted sugar flowers. Each decorative element required careful preparation and attention to detail.
Five Months of Detailed Work
The project took around five and a half months to complete. Suárez spent approximately 1,800 hours working on the elaborate creation.
The chef described the project as the most complicated challenge of his professional career. Friends and family also helped him complete the demanding work.
The finished creation weighed about half a tonne. Its height of 3.5 meters also made it an imposing centerpiece for the royal wedding.
Only a Small Portion Was Actual Cake
One of the most unusual details involves the materials used to create the structure. Only around 0.1 percent of the entire creation was actual cake.
Most of the structure was made using handcrafted sugar paste and white chocolate. These materials allowed the chef to produce detailed decorative features while maintaining the enormous design.
The thousands of sugar flowers were a major part of the overall appearance. Their intricate design contributed to the long production period.
A Major Project for Marc Suárez
Suárez said the Wedding Cake was the most complex project he had undertaken during his career. Completing such a large creation required months of planning, craftsmanship, and extensive manual work.
The setting also added to the scale of the project. Opéra Garnier is one of Paris’s most recognizable cultural landmarks.
The finished cake combined pastry-making techniques with detailed artistic craftsmanship. Its enormous dimensions and thousands of handmade decorations made it a distinctive feature of the ceremony.
