GAZA – At least 115 Palestinians were killed on Sunday across Gaza, including 92 who died while trying to get food aid. The deaths happened in both the north and south of the region, including Zikim crossing, Rafah, and Khan Younis.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, 67 people were shot while waiting for U.N. aid trucks in northern Gaza. Six more were killed near an aid site in the south. Many others were injured. It was one of the deadliest days in a series of attacks on people seeking aid.
In a statement, the Israeli military said its troops had fired warning shots at a crowd of civilians due to an “immediate threat.” However, it claimed the casualty numbers may be inflated and denied targeting aid trucks on purpose. It did not comment on the southern incident.
The U.N. World Food Programme (WFP) said one of its aid convoys came under fire shortly after entering Gaza. The trucks were surrounded by thousands of hungry civilians. The WFP condemned the violence, calling it “completely unacceptable.”
Meanwhile, 19 people died from hunger in the last 24 hours. Gaza’s Health Ministry warned that hundreds more could die soon due to severe food shortages. Many hospitals are overwhelmed with patients suffering from malnutrition, dizziness, and exhaustion.
Residents say it is now impossible to find flour or basic food. One father told Reuters he walks for hours looking for food for his children but returns empty-handed. He added, “People who didn’t die in bombings will die of hunger.”
The health ministry reported at least 71 children have died of hunger since the war began. Another 60,000 children are suffering from signs of malnutrition.
In central Gaza’s Deir al-Balah, Israeli planes struck houses after dropping evacuation leaflets. This caused dozens of families to flee again, adding to the ongoing displacement crisis.
As conditions worsen, calls for a ceasefire grow louder. Talks continue in Qatar, but no breakthrough has been reached. Israel and Hamas are discussing a 60-day truce and a possible hostage deal.
So far, over 58,000 Palestinians have died since the war began in October 2023. Gaza’s people now face both violence and starvation in one of the worst humanitarian crises in recent history.
In another major security development, nine terrorists were killed in a joint operation in KP’s Malakand. Read full report here.
