India’s Adani Signs Deal with Brazil’s Embraer to Build Planes

India’s Adani Signs Deal with Brazil’s Embraer to Build Planes

India’s Adani Group and Brazilian aircraft maker Embraer signed a deal on Tuesday to manufacture planes in India. The partnership aims to strengthen India’s position as a global aviation hub.

According to a joint statement, the two companies plan to establish an assembly line and collaborate on airplane manufacturing, the aviation supply chain, and pilot training. The deal is expected to support domestic demand and generate significant direct and indirect employment. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The agreement provides Adani, a major conglomerate led by billionaire Gautam Adani, with an opportunity to expand its aerospace business. For Embraer, the world’s third-largest aircraft manufacturer, the deal helps build a stronger presence in India’s growing aviation market.

India’s air force currently operates Embraer jets, including the Legacy 600 and the Netra AEW&C aircraft, which is based on the ERJ145 platform. Embraer’s president and CEO, Arjan Meijer, said India is a pivotal market and the partnership combines the company’s aerospace expertise with Adani’s industrial capabilities.

The collaboration is expected to create an ecosystem that strengthens India’s aviation industry. This includes aircraft assembly, supply chain development, and pilot training programs. Analysts say such partnerships could make India a key player in the global aviation sector in the coming years.

Embraer has a strong backlog of unfilled orders. As of October 2025, the company held 490 aircraft orders following several major agreements. This deal with Adani is seen as a strategic move to meet growing demand and expand operations in Asia.

Experts note that the Adani-Embraer partnership could also boost local employment, technology transfer, and skills development. By combining resources and expertise, both companies aim to create a long-term aviation ecosystem in India.
