Rare Albino Buffalo Spared From Eid Sacrifice After Government Order

Rare Albino Buffalo Spared From Eid Sacrifice After Government Order

A rare albino buffalo in Bangladesh has been spared from Eid-ul-Azha sacrifice after a sudden government intervention. The animal had gained public attention due to its unusual appearance.

Officials confirmed that the albino buffalo, weighing nearly 700 kilograms, had already been sold for ritual slaughter. However, authorities stepped in before the sacrifice could take place.

The animal is also known locally by the nickname โ€œDonald Trumpโ€ due to its distinctive light-colored tuft. The unusual look of the albino buffalo quickly made it a viral topic in local media and social platforms.

According to a Home Ministry official, the decision was taken due to security and public interest concerns. Large crowds were reportedly gathering to see the animal ahead of Eid-ul-Azha celebrations.

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed issued direct instructions to halt the sacrifice. He ordered that the buyer be refunded immediately and the animal be moved to a safer location.

Following the directive, the albino buffalo was transferred to the national zoo in Dhaka. Officials said the move was necessary to ensure proper protection of the rare animal.

Authorities stated that rising attention around the albino buffalo created potential risks during the busy festival period. They emphasized that crowd control and safety were important factors in the decision.

Locals had shown strong curiosity about the animal due to its rare appearance. Many people visited the area just to see the unusual livestock before Eid.

Experts say albino animals are extremely rare and often attract public fascination. The albino buffalo in this case became widely discussed even before the festival began.

Animal welfare groups also supported the decision, saying the relocation would ensure better care. They appreciated the authorities for taking timely action.

The case has now sparked discussion in Bangladesh about the treatment of rare animals during religious festivals. Many believe more guidelines are needed to protect such animals in the future.

For now, the albino buffalo remains under care at the national zoo, where it will be monitored and kept safe.
