An early morning explosion at a fireworks factory near Changde in central China’s Hunan province has left nine people dead and 26 injured, state media confirmed Tuesday. The blast occurred just before 8:30 am on Monday in a village-based facility.
Emergency crews have been on-site for over 20 hours, facing major challenges due to the mountainous terrain and lack of a nearby water source. Remote-controlled water cannons were deployed to battle the fire, as officials warned of the possibility of secondary explosions.
