Flash Flood Warning Issued Across Central Texas, See Which Counties at Risk

Authorities have issued a flood warning across multiple counties in central Texas after heavy rainfall and thunderstorms created dangerous conditions. The warning follows a slow-moving cold front combined with high tropical moisture.

The flood warning has already led to emergency rescue operations in some areas. Drivers were rescued after attempting to cross flooded low-water roads. Officials say conditions remain risky as more rain continues.

On Monday, June 15, the National Weather Service issued a fresh flood warning after repeated thunderstorms moved over the same regions. These storms dropped around 1 to 2 inches of rain within a short period.

Areas Under Flood Warning

The flood warning currently affects several counties in central Texas. These include:

  • Travis County, including Austin
  • Williamson County, including Round Rock and Cedar Park
  • Burnet County, including Kingsland
  • Blanco County
  • Llano County
  • Milam County, including Rockdale and Thorndale

In addition, a broader flood warning watch remains active across the KXAN viewing area until Tuesday evening, June 16.

Safety Advisory for Residents

Officials have strongly advised residents to take the flood warning seriously. People are urged to avoid unnecessary travel and stay alert to updates.

Authorities warned drivers not to attempt crossing flooded roads. Even shallow water can be extremely dangerous. According to safety guidelines, just 12 inches of moving water can sweep away a vehicle.

Emergency services are monitoring the situation closely. Rescue teams remain on standby as rainfall continues in several areas.

Weather Forecast Update

Scattered thunderstorms are expected to continue through Tuesday. Temperatures will remain in the 80s during this period.

Meteorologists say conditions should begin improving by Wednesday. The weather is expected to dry out, with temperatures rising back into the 90s.

Officials continue to stress caution as the flood warning remains in place. Residents are encouraged to follow all updates and avoid high-risk areas until conditions improve.
