Police in Mumbai, India, are investigating a bomb threat to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) after the institution received an email in Russian, warning of an explosive attack. The email was sent to the official address of newly appointed RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra. Authorities have initiated a formal investigation into the matter.
This incident follows a series of similar bomb threats across India this year, including an alarming rise in threats to schools, airports, railway stations, and airlines. Just earlier this week, at least 40 schools in New Delhi received bomb threats demanding $30,000 in ransom. The threats, delivered via email, warned of bomb detonations unless payment was made. Despite extensive searches, no explosives have been found at any of the affected locations.

Authorities are working to trace the origins of these threats, which may be hoaxes, as many previous incidents have turned out to be false alarms. Police investigations are ongoing, with the Delhi Police focusing on identifying the perpetrators.
The Chief Minister of Delhi, Atishi, has criticized the federal government for not ensuring the safety of residents, particularly amid these security concerns. The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, appointed by the federal government, has not yet commented on the situation.
Meanwhile, in response to the heightened threats, precautionary measures have been implemented, and parents have been seen picking up their children from schools to ensure their safety.
