India's Water Drama Exposed as Experts Dismiss Threat to Pakistan

Recent reports have revealed that India is trying to justify its unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty through misleading water management tactics aimed more at propaganda than real impact. Sources confirmed that India recently released excess water into the Jhelum River to simulate flood-like conditions, hoping to create a false sense of control over Pakistan’s water resources.

Despite these theatrics, water management experts have swiftly debunked India’s ability to pose any serious threat. With only 0.624 million acre-feet of storage capacity on the western rivers, India falls far behind Pakistan’s Mangla Reservoir, which alone holds 7.35 million acre-feet, showcasing a significant imbalance in water storage capabilities.

Pakistani authorities, including the Ministry of Water Resources and WAPDA, have been actively monitoring the situation and assert that India lacks the infrastructure needed to block or divert river flows in any meaningful way. Officials stress that the real objective behind India’s actions is narrative-building, not genuine disruption.

Experts further urge Pakistan to prioritize the rapid construction of large water reservoirs to ensure long-term water security in the face of climate change, regardless of India’s provocations, confirming there is no immediate threat to Pakistan’s water stability.
