Iran Highlights US Military Bases as Regional Tensions Escalate

Tensions between Tehran and Washington remain high as Iran’s Fars news agency recently published images of US Military Bases in the Middle East. The pictures were released without comment, showing key installations amid ongoing concerns over potential conflict.

The images, released on consecutive days, showed the Al Dhafra Air Base near Abu Dhabi and the Isa Air Base in Bahrain. Both bases host American forces, with Al Dhafra also hosting French troops. The Fars news agency did not provide any explanation, only noting the day and date according to the Persian calendar.

French President Emmanuel Macron expressed concern over the images, stating that Paris is closely monitoring the situation. He added that French troops in the UAE are being kept under optimal security conditions.

US-Iran tensions have escalated following threats from US President Donald Trump to take military action if Iran does not agree to restrict its nuclear program. Iranian officials, in turn, have warned of retaliation, with US Military Bases in the Gulf cited as potential targets.

Last week, a US fighter jet shot down an Iranian drone approaching the USS Abraham Lincoln, highlighting the risks in the region. Despite the Fars images, AFP confirmed that some were old, and satellite reviews indicated no significant increase in aircraft deployment at Al Dhafra as of February 3.

With diplomatic talks expected this week between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US envoy Steve Witkoff, uncertainty remains. Meanwhile, propaganda in Tehran, including billboards depicting American planes crashing, underscores rising anti-US sentiment.

Analysts say the publication of US Military Bases images by Fars may be intended to signal strength to domestic audiences while keeping international attention on Iran’s position. Observers caution that while the images themselves do not indicate new intelligence, they contribute to the tense atmosphere in the region.
