TEHRAN – Iranian officials have reiterated their strong position on past conflicts while confirming progress in diplomatic talks. The statement highlights ongoing tensions involving regional and international issues linked to Iran.
Iran Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said the Iranian people will not forget what he described as past injustices. He referred to actions by the United States and Israel. He added that any future agreement involving Iran does not mean forgiveness or forgetting history.
Baghaei made these remarks during a press briefing in Tehran. He also said that discussions on a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States are close to completion. According to him, the final details are expected to be settled soon. The agreement may be officially announced in the coming days.
He further stated that the signing ceremony for the MoU is planned to take place in Geneva on Friday. Before the signing, Iran officials are expected to visit several neighboring countries. These visits are part of wider diplomatic coordination efforts.
The spokesperson also spoke about regional security concerns. He stressed that conflict should end across all fronts, including Lebanon. He said Lebanon’s sovereignty must be respected. He added that stability in the region is a key priority for Iran.
Baghaei noted that Iran, Oman, and other partners are working on making the Strait of Hormuz more secure. He explained that maritime service fees may be applied for a limited period under agreed terms.
He also mentioned economic elements of the proposed agreement. According to him, the deal includes US commitments related to compensation and the unfreezing of Iranian assets. He emphasized that Iran expects its frozen funds to be returned.
Baghaei added that Iran should be allowed to export oil and petrochemical products freely. He warned that failure to meet commitments could lead to reciprocal actions from Iran.
