Iran’s Atomic Energy Agency Condemns US Strikes as Illegal

Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI) has strongly denounced the recent US-led airstrikes on its nuclear facilities, calling them a “brutal aggression” and a flagrant breach of both international law and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). The coordinated attacks, carried out with Israeli support, targeted key Iranian nuclear sites at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.

In a statement released Sunday, the AEOI labeled the strikes as an “act of war” and held the United States fully responsible for what it described as an unlawful assault on Iran’s sovereign infrastructure. The agency emphasized that the attacks not only violated Iran’s territorial integrity but also broke binding commitments under the NPT, to which Iran remains a signatory.

The AEOI also criticized the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), accusing it of remaining “disturbingly silent” in the face of such blatant violations. The agency warned that the IAEA’s inaction undermines its credibility, neutrality, and core responsibilities as an international watchdog.

Referring to US President Donald Trump’s public acknowledgment of the attacks, the AEOI warned that Washington’s actions represent a dangerous escalation with potential long-term consequences for regional and global stability.

Despite the airstrikes, Iranian officials affirmed that the country’s nuclear program would continue undeterred. “Our peaceful nuclear activities will persist with even greater resolve,” the statement read, emphasizing that external military pressure will not slow Iran’s scientific and technological progress.

Additionally, the AEOI announced that it is consulting legal experts to initiate international legal action against the US and Israel for violating Iran’s rights under international law. The organization confirmed that formal complaints will soon be submitted to the United Nations and other relevant legal institutions.

The airstrikes, conducted with advanced GBU-57 “bunker buster” bombs, have sparked widespread international concern about the risk of further escalation in the region.
