Irish PM Stands Firm on Gaza Criticism Amid Israel Embassy Closure

Israel

Ireland’s Prime Minister, Simon Harris, has vowed that his country will “not be silenced” in criticizing Israel’s actions in Gaza, following Israel’s decision to close its Dublin embassy. Harris accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of employing “the diplomacy of distraction” but reaffirmed Ireland’s support for Israel’s right to self-defense.

However, Harris condemned the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, stating, “Killing children, starving people, and blocking humanitarian aid are reprehensible acts.” His remarks come after Ireland backed an International Court of Justice petition accusing Israel of genocide.

Foreign Minister MicheΓ‘l Martin defended Ireland’s decision, emphasizing respect for international humanitarian law and accountability for war crimes, adding, “Seeking justice through international courts is not a hostile act.”
