Israel strikes on Yemeni capital Sanaa kill six, wound dozens in early morning air raids on August 24, 2025. The strikes followed Houthi missile and drone attacks toward Israel in recent days.
A Houthi health official confirmed the death toll is six and the number of injured is 86. Several of the wounded are in serious condition.
The Israeli military said its jets targeted multiple strategic locations. These included a military compound near the presidential palace, two power plants, and a fuel storage site.
Footage of the attack showed a large fireball rising over the city. Thick smoke could be seen billowing from damaged buildings. Residents described loud blasts shaking homes near central Sanaa landmarks.
This marks a sharp escalation in the ongoing tit-for-tat conflict between Israel and Iran-aligned Houthi forces. The strikes came after the Houthis launched a ballistic missile carrying sub-munitions toward Israel. That weapon was the first of its kind launched from Yemen, an Israeli official said.
Houthi officials responded to the attack with defiance. A senior leader pledged continued support for Palestinians in Gaza, โno matter the sacrifices.โ
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu framed the strike as a warning to the region. He said Israel would respond decisively to any threats.
This episodeโIsrael strikes on Yemeni capital Sanaa kill six, wound dozensโhas added new tension to a conflict that has spilled far beyond Gaza. It highlights the widening front in a regional crisis that shows little sign of fading.
