Massive explosions lit up the skies over Tehran and Karaj after Israeli Bombing targeted multiple Iranian fuel storage sites. Flames and thick smoke were visible for miles, alarming residents.
The strikes come amid the ongoing conflict that began last weekend with the U.S. Operation Epic Fury, which reportedly led to the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Khamenei. This is the first direct attack on Iran’s energy infrastructure since the joint U.S.-Israel campaign started.
Iranian media reported extensive damage in surrounding areas, including homes, shops, roads, water pipelines, schools, and hospitals near the blast zones. The Ministry of Oil confirmed several oil storage depots in Tehran and Alborz provinces were hit. Officials said one facility was near Tehran’s main oil refinery in Shahr Rey.
Residents described the explosions as shaking buildings miles away. Videos shared online showed enormous fireballs rising from the oil regions. Earlier the same day, Israeli Bombing also struck Mehrabad Airport, Iran’s busiest domestic airport. Israel stated the attack targeted aircraft allegedly transporting weapons and funds to allied militant groups.
An oil depot in Karaj, west of Tehran, was also damaged. Emergency crews and firefighters were dispatched to control the fires. Despite the destruction, Iran’s Oil Ministry assured that fuel supplies would remain stable, citing prior precautionary measures.
One resident, Amir, said he moved his wife and children to the countryside after hearing the blasts near the mountains. The attacks have intensified fear among civilians and highlighted the growing risks in urban areas.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards warned the country is ready for a prolonged conflict. Spokesperson Ali Mohammad Naini said the armed forces could sustain intense operations against the U.S. and Israel for at least six months at the current pace.
The Israeli Bombing marks a dangerous escalation, signaling possible wider regional confrontations. Analysts warn that civilian safety and critical infrastructure could face increased threats as the conflict unfolds.
