Gaza health officials reported fresh casualties on Wednesday as Israeli strikes hit several areas across the Palestinian territory. At least six people were killed and several others injured in the latest incidents.
According to the civil defence agency, five people died in separate attacks since the morning. The agency confirmed that Israeli strikes continue despite the ongoing ceasefire agreement.
Local hospitals reported multiple casualties. Al-Ahli hospital in Gaza City said it received three bodies and several injured people after a drone strike in the Zeitoun neighbourhood. The attack caused significant damage in the area.
In another incident, Israeli strikes targeted the Al-Daraj neighbourhood. One person was killed and around ten others were injured. Among the wounded was the son of Hamasโs chief negotiator, Khalil al-Hayya.
Security sources confirmed that Azzam Khalil al-Hayya was seriously injured in the attack. Medical teams are continuing treatment for the wounded at nearby hospitals.
Further Israeli strikes across other parts of Gaza killed two more individuals. More than a dozen people were also injured in these separate incidents, according to hospital officials.
One of the victims was reportedly a Hamas police officer. Authorities said the situation remains tense as attacks continue in multiple locations.
The civil defence agency stated that Israeli strikes have persisted even after the October ceasefire. The truce was intended to reduce violence following the war that began in October 2023.
Despite the agreement, both sides continue to accuse each other of violations. The ongoing clashes have raised concerns over the stability of the ceasefire.
Gazaโs health ministry reported that at least 837 Palestinians have been killed since the truce began. The figures are considered credible by international observers.
On the Israeli side, the military has reported the death of five soldiers during the same period in Gaza operations.
As Israeli strikes continue, humanitarian conditions in Gaza remain critical. Medical facilities are struggling to manage the growing number of casualties.
The situation highlights the fragile nature of the ceasefire and the ongoing risks of renewed escalation in the region.
