Iran’s Supreme Leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei has accused former U.S. President Donald Trump of directly fueling recent unrest in Iran. He said the violence caused deaths, destruction, and false narratives about the country. The remarks were made during a speech marking the anniversary of Al-Mab’ath Al-Nabawi.
Speaking to a large gathering, Khamenei praised the Iranian people for standing united during difficult times. He said national unity helped overcome what he described as a coordinated campaign of unrest. According to him, the country remained stable despite serious challenges.
The Supreme Leader claimed the recent riots were different from past incidents. He alleged direct involvement by the U.S. President in encouraging disorder. He said public statements were made in support of rioters. He also claimed promises of military assistance were discussed.
According to Khamenei, the unrest was part of a wider American strategy. He alleged the goal was to weaken Iran and bring it under U.S. influence. He further claimed that some rioters were recruited and trained by U.S. and Israeli intelligence agencies. These claims were presented as part of a broader pattern of foreign interference.
Addressing the damage caused, the Supreme Leader said hundreds of mosques were burned. He also claimed banks and public property were attacked. He said thousands lost their lives during the violence. These actions, he stated, were meant to slow Iran’s progress.
He warned that such unrest was designed to harm Iran’s scientific and technological growth. He also said it targeted governance and national confidence. According to him, destabilization remains a key objective of hostile powers.
Providing historical context, Khamenei said U.S. interference in Iran dates back decades. He said American influence declined after the Islamic Revolution. He added that since then, the U.S. has tried to regain political and economic control.
He stressed that opposition from Washington is not limited to one government. He described it as a long-standing policy against an independent Iran. He said Iran’s growing regional influence remains a concern for the U.S.
