Residents throughout the UAE experienced a rare astronomical event on Wednesday evening as the “Strawberry Moon” rose in the eastern sky, captivating observers across the country.
Despite earlier clarifications from astronomers that the moon wouldn’t appear pink, it displayed a subtle reddish tint at moonrise—an effect caused by atmospheric dust and light scattering. The enchanting view became even more remarkable for those who witnessed it in person across various Emirates.

Emirati media photographers captured stunning images of the full moon from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah, revealing its soft pink-to-orange hues and its unusually low position on the horizon.
What made this “Strawberry Moon” particularly rare was that it was the lowest full moon in the current lunar cycle, a phenomenon that won’t repeat until the year 2043. It was also associated with the “Great Lunar Standstill,” an occurrence that happens just once every 18.6 years.
