Sherpa Guide Sets New Record With 32nd Ascent of Mount Everest

A veteran Nepali Sherpa guide has successfully climbed Mount Everest for the 32nd time. This achievement marks a new personal and world record.

Kami Rita Sherpa, aged 56, reached the summit on Sunday at 10:12 a.m. local time. He was guiding climbers from a private expedition company during the ascent.

The Department of Tourism in Nepal praised the achievement. Officials called it a historic milestone for mountain tourism and Sherpa contributions.

This latest climb of Mount Everest makes Kami Rita the most successful climber in history. He continues to break his own previous records year after year.

The summit of Mount Everest stands at 8,849 meters, making it the highest peak in the world. It remains one of the most challenging climbs globally.

Kami Rita first climbed Mount Everest in 1994. Since then, he has returned almost every year except in a few closed seasons.

He has sometimes climbed the mountain twice in a single year. This consistency has made him one of the most experienced guides on Everest.

Another Sherpa climber also achieved a notable milestone. Lhakpa Sherpa completed her 11th ascent, the highest by a woman climber.

Officials say more than 8,000 climbers have reached Mount Everest since the first successful summit in 1953. That historic climb was completed by Tenzing Norgay and Sir Edmund Hillary.

Since then, many climbers have repeated the journey multiple times. Foreign climbers often rely on Sherpa guides for safety and support.

Among non-Sherpa climbers, records are also growing. British guide Kenton Cool has reached the summit 19 times.

American climbers Dave Hahn and Garrett Madison have each completed 15 ascents of Mount Everest. Some of them are still active in climbing expeditions.

Nepal has issued 492 climbing permits for the current season. The climbing period runs from March to May each year.

However, the season has also seen risks. At least three Nepali climbers have died during recent attempts on Mount Everest.
