Netanyahu Backs Trump’s Gaza Plan Amid Regional Concerns

Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed his commitment to the U.S.-backed proposal to take over Gaza and displace its Palestinian residents. The plan, introduced by former U.S. President Donald Trump, aims to restructure Gaza’s leadership by eliminating Hamas and the Palestinian Authority’s control over the area. Netanyahu emphasized that this vision would shape Gaza’s future after the conflict, with the support of the U.S. administration.

As tensions rise, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who recently visited Israel, has called for the complete eradication of Hamas. Rubio’s statements align with Netanyahu’s firm stance on the Trump administration’s proposal, despite widespread criticism from international communities. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is set to host a summit later this week, bringing together key Arab nations to discuss alternative solutions for Gaza’s future.

The U.S. remains steadfast in its support for the plan, although some Arab countries, including Egypt and Saudi Arabia, have voiced concerns. They are seeking ways to find a more inclusive solution for the region, especially with the ongoing push for a Palestinian state, a demand that has historically been opposed by Israel.

Netanyahu’s office has signaled that discussions regarding Phase II of the plan will continue, with ongoing negotiations involving Cairo. The situation remains fluid as diplomatic efforts intensify.
