Netanyahu Backtracks on Pushing for Regime Change in Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced a significant shift in Israel’s approach toward Iran, stating that the country no longer aims to pursue regime change in Tehran.

In a recent interview with Israeli media, Netanyahu clarified that removing the Iranian government is not a goal for Israel. Instead, he stressed that the nation’s top priority is to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

He also pointed out that curbing Iran’s missile capabilities stands as a secondary objective. While acknowledging ongoing concerns over Iran’s military activities, Netanyahu firmly stated, “Regime change is not part of our policy.”

This statement marks a notable change in Israel’s previous posture, signaling a preference for strategic containment over direct efforts to alter Iran’s political system.
