US Congressman Darrell Issa publicly announced his nomination of Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, crediting the former president for his efforts in advancing peace in the Middle East. Trump’s candidacy has been a subject of debate, particularly in light of his controversial presidency, which saw strained relations with European allies and ongoing discussions with Moscow regarding the war in Ukraine. His repeated nominations have sparked interest and divided opinions on whether his diplomatic actions warrant the Nobel recognition.
In the UK, a separate campaign has emerged in support of Frenchwoman Gisèle Pelicot, whose public fight for justice against her ex-husband, convicted of serious crimes, has gained widespread support. As the Nobel Peace Prize nominations undergo further review, the world will await the announcement of the winner later this year.
