A claim about a possible Nuclear Strike on an underground Iranian facility has sparked fresh concerns. American commentator Tucker Carlson has alleged that US President Donald Trump could consider such an attack by November 7.
Carlson suggested that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was pressuring Trump to take action. His comments have drawn attention amid continuing tensions between Washington and Tehran over Iran’s nuclear programme.
However, Carlson has not provided verifiable evidence supporting the alleged plan. Neither the US nor Israeli government has publicly confirmed preparations for a nuclear attack.
The controversy centres on Pickaxe Mountain, an underground nuclear-related facility near Iran’s Natanz complex. The site is also known as Kuh-e Kolang Gaz La.
What Is Iran’s Pickaxe Mountain Facility?
Pickaxe Mountain is a heavily fortified installation located beneath mountainous terrain in central Iran. Reports suggest its tunnels extend more than 300 feet underground.
Construction reportedly began around seven or eight years ago. Iranian officials have linked the facility to complex centrifuge production and assembly activities.
Israeli intelligence reportedly suspects Iran may have moved sensitive nuclear equipment or enriched uranium into the facility. These concerns reportedly increased following earlier military attacks on Iranian nuclear sites.
Carlson also claimed that Israeli intelligence believes Iran has resumed uranium enrichment inside the complex. However, these claims have not been independently confirmed.
The facility’s depth and surrounding rock could make it difficult to target. This has raised questions about whether conventional weapons could destroy its underground chambers.
Could the US Consider a Nuclear Strike?
The United States possesses powerful bunker-busting weapons, including the GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator. However, their ability to completely destroy deeply buried facilities remains uncertain.
Carlson argued that conventional weapons might not be sufficient against Pickaxe Mountain. He suggested this limitation could lead Washington to consider a nuclear option.
There is no confirmed evidence that the US administration is planning such an operation. The alleged November 7 timeline also remains an unverified claim.
Carlson placed Netanyahu at the centre of the alleged pressure campaign. He claimed the Israeli prime minister had been contacting Trump regularly about Iran.
The commentator also suggested Netanyahu’s political future could depend on American intervention. However, no independently established evidence supports a direct link between his domestic political situation and an alleged nuclear attack plan.
Reports have also described discussions between Trump and Netanyahu about further conventional military action. Meanwhile, Washington has continued examining possible diplomatic options.
Netanyahu’s Reported UAE Visit
Carlson also referred to Netanyahu’s reported private visit to Abu Dhabi on September 27. During the visit, Netanyahu reportedly met UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The visit has been reported, but claims about specific requests made during the meeting remain unverified. No confirmed information establishes a connection between the visit and an alleged nuclear operation against Iran.
Claims About US Nuclear Policy
Carlson further alleged that the Trump administration had been adjusting American nuclear strategy since February. He claimed these changes could make the first use of smaller tactical nuclear weapons more accessible.
These allegations have raised questions about possible changes in Washington’s nuclear posture. However, the specific claims about a secret policy revision have not been independently substantiated.
Carlson also criticised several senior American officials over their perceived approach to Iran. Those mentioned included Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and CIA Director John Ratcliffe.
He also raised allegations about opposition to diplomatic efforts among some American political figures. These claims have not been independently verified.
Concerns About Possible Environmental Damage
Carlson warned that a Nuclear Strike against an underground facility could have serious humanitarian consequences. He claimed radioactive material could spread across the Persian Gulf.
He suggested contamination could threaten drinking-water supplies used by as many as 100 million people. The concern involves possible effects on regional infrastructure, desalination facilities, and the surrounding environment.
However, the specific contamination scenario and the figure cited by Carlson have not been independently established.
The allegations remain unconfirmed by American and Israeli officials. For now, the claims have intensified discussion about Iran’s nuclear facilities, regional security, and the risks of further escalation.
