Over 30 Injured as Oil Tanker, Cargo Ship Collide Off UK Coast

A massive fire broke out after an oil tanker and a cargo ship collided off the coast of East Yorkshire, leaving at least 32 people injured. The crash occurred in one of the region’s busiest shipping lanes, prompting a large-scale rescue operation.

According to the UK’s Maritime and Coastguard Agency, both vessels caught fire following the collision. Dramatic images showed thick smoke and towering flames rising from the ships. Rescue teams, including helicopters and fire-fighting vessels, were quickly deployed to the scene.

Martyn Boyers, chief executive of the Port of Grimsby East, confirmed that the injured were transported ashore via rescue boats. Witnesses described a “massive fireball” after the impact, though the exact cause of the crash remains unclear.

Authorities are continuing efforts to contain the fire and secure the area as investigations into the incident progress.
