Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to boost cooperation in the energy and minerals sectors, officials said on Wednesday.
Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, met Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki, to discuss matters of mutual interest. The meeting highlighted opportunities to strengthen ties between the two countries.
During the discussion, Malik congratulated the Saudi ambassador on the successful organization of the Future Minerals Forum in Riyadh. He said the forum provided a significant platform for Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to boost cooperation in energy projects and mineral investments.
“The brotherly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are not only diplomatic but also translate into tangible outcomes,” Malik said. He added that these outcomes include technology transfer, joint ventures, and increased investment in strategic sectors.
The Saudi ambassador praised Pakistan’s active participation in the Future Minerals Forum. He noted that continued engagement between the two countries was vital to further boost cooperation in the minerals sector. He emphasized that collaboration could bring mutual economic benefits and strengthen regional trade ties.
Officials said both sides discussed ways to enhance joint projects in energy production, renewable energy, and mineral exploration. The talks also covered opportunities for private sector partnerships and investment facilitation.
Analysts believe the agreement to boost cooperation could lead to long-term economic benefits. Pakistan stands to gain access to advanced technology and Saudi investment, while Saudi Arabia could expand its influence in South Asia’s energy and mineral markets.
The meeting underlined the importance of regular dialogue and strategic collaboration. Both countries expressed their commitment to turning agreements into actionable projects that support economic growth and strengthen bilateral relations.
