Pakistan has reaffirmed its commitment to continuing counterterrorism operations along the Afghan border, dismissing Kabul’s recent claims as baseless and politically motivated. Islamabad said the operations are essential to protect national security and regional stability.
A statement from the Foreign Office described Afghanistan’s accusations as an attempt to divert attention from its failure to curb cross-border militant activity. It emphasized that Pakistan’s actions strictly target terrorist groups threatening its sovereignty.
Officials noted that militant attacks originating from Afghan soil have surged in recent months, killing numerous Pakistani civilians and soldiers. They urged Kabul to fulfill its obligations to prevent terrorist safe havens on its territory.
Pakistan’s military reaffirmed that operations under its anti-terror campaign will continue until all extremist networks are dismantled. Intelligence agencies have been ordered to intensify surveillance and border security measures.
Defense analysts said Pakistan’s stance reflects growing frustration with Afghanistan’s lack of cooperation in addressing cross-border terrorism. They warned that diplomatic tensions could worsen if such provocations persist.
Islamabad reiterated its support for regional peace but stressed that it would not compromise on national security or allow terrorist groups to operate with impunity.
