Pakistani Ambassador Highlights Strong U.S.-Pakistan Ties and Economic Opportunities

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, emphasized the vital role of the one million-strong Pakistani-American community in strengthening Pakistan-U.S. relations during a recent address to U.S. policymakers, diplomats, and business leaders. He encouraged American investors to explore Pakistan’s expanding economic landscape, particularly the booming IT sector.

Ambassador Sheikh pointed out that Pakistan offers IT services at costs 70% lower than in the U.S., without compromising on quality, presenting a lucrative opportunity for bilateral collaboration. He also highlighted Pakistan’s role as a major importer of American cotton and soybeans, and its strategic position as a potential regional trade hub.

“Over 80 American companies are operating successfully in Pakistan, reflecting the country’s profitable and growing market,” he noted, stressing that creating a business-friendly environment remains a government priority. On regional issues, Sheikh condemned recent provocations by India during Pakistan’s economic growth but reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace and regional stability.

He also praised U.S. leadership in facilitating the ceasefire between Pakistan and India, underscoring the importance of peace as a foundation for continued economic progress.
