Putin Says Israel Vowed to Safeguard Russian Staff at Iran’s Bushehr Plant

Russian President Vladimir Putin has revealed that Israel has provided firm assurances concerning the safety of Russian personnel stationed at Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant. The facility, developed and operated with Russian support for over three decades, is a cornerstone of Iran’s civilian nuclear program.

In remarks made during a meeting with international journalists, President Putin highlighted the strategic importance of the Bushehr site and Russia’s enduring partnership with Tehran in the nuclear energy field. “Israel has assured us that there will be no threat to our staff or to the Russian-built infrastructure at Bushehr,” he stated.

Putin’s comments come in the wake of Israeli airstrikes targeting several Iranian nuclear and missile-related facilities, including the Arak heavy water reactor. Although Bushehr was not hit, growing regional instability has raised concerns about the safety of foreign nationals and critical infrastructure.

The Bushehr plant, active since the 1990s, symbolizes decades of Russian-Iranian cooperation. As tensions surge, Moscow appears intent on maintaining its strategic investments and safeguarding its personnel in the region.
