United Arab Emirates could welcome the holy month of Ramadan 1448 AH on Monday, February 8, 2027.
The expected date is based on astronomical calculations. However, the official start will depend on the sighting of the crescent moon.
Current UAE calendar estimates list February 8 as the tentative first day of fasting.The new moon conjunction is expected to occur on February 6, 2027.
The crescent will then be sought on the evening of Sunday, February 7.
If the moon is sighted, Taraweeh prayers would begin that evening. The first fast would then take place on February 8.
Ramadan 2027 Could Last 29 or 30 Days
As with every Islamic lunar month, Ramadan can last either 29 or 30 days. The exact duration will depend on the sighting of the Shawwal crescent.
Therefore, astronomical dates remain estimates until the relevant UAE authorities issue an official announcement. Residents should follow official moon-sighting announcements closer to the start of the holy month.
When Could Eid Al Fitr 2027 Begin?
Astronomical estimates also provide an early indication of the possible Eid Al Fitr dates.
The Shawwal crescent is expected to be assessed around March 8 or March 9, 2027. If the crescent is sighted on March 8, Eid Al Fitr could begin on Tuesday, March 9.
However, the date could change if the crescent is not sighted.
If Ramadan completes 30 days, Eid Al Fitr could instead fall on Wednesday, March 10. Current expected holiday schedules place the UAE’s Eid break around March 9 to March 11.
An additional holiday may be possible depending on the length of the holy month.
These dates remain tentative and will require official confirmation.
Eid Al Adha 2027 Expected in May
Astronomical calendar estimates also provide tentative dates for Eid Al Adha 2027.
Arafah Day is currently expected around May 16, 2027. Eid Al Adha could then fall around May 17.
However, these dates are also linked to the Islamic lunar calendar. They will therefore remain provisional until officially confirmed through the relevant moon-sighting process.
Official Moon Sighting Will Confirm Ramadan Date
Astronomical calculations help residents plan ahead, but they do not replace official religious announcements.
The UAE’s competent authorities will confirm the start of Ramadan after the official crescent-sighting process.
The same process will determine the final dates for Eid Al Fitr and other Islamic occasions.
