Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has revealed the reasons behind his dramatic body transformation. The actor spoke openly about the changes during the Venice Film Festival while promoting his new film, The Smashing Machine.
In the biopic, Johnson takes on the role of legendary MMA fighter and UFC pioneer Mark Kerr. To prepare for the part, he shed nearly 27 kilograms, dropping from around 136kg to 108kg. This leaner looks marked a significant shift from his well-known muscular build.
The Rock explained that this transformation was essential to accurately portray Kerr’s struggles and career. His appearance at Venice sparked worldwide attention, with fans noticing his slimmer frame and the media highlighting his dedication to the role.
But the journey does not end there. Johnson shared that he is preparing for another unusual role in Lizard Music. In this project, directed by Benny Safdie, he will play a whimsical character known as the “Chicken Man.” The role requires him to slim down even further, taking his body in a completely new direction.
Speaking about the part, Johnson recalled Safdie’s pitch for the film. “After about 45 minutes, I said, ‘I am your Chicken Man,’” he told the audience. The character is a quirky 70-something-year-old man whose closest companion is an equally aged chicken. Johnson admitted the transformation is still in progress but expressed excitement about the challenge.
Reflecting on the shift, he joked that the new role might mean “eating less chicken” in real life. Despite the humor, his comments showed the seriousness of his commitment to reshaping himself for his characters.
The Rock new physique has become a trending topic worldwide, sparking discussion among fans and film critics alike. His willingness to push boundaries highlights his dedication not only to physical performance but also to storytelling. With two major roles on the horizon, Johnson continues to surprise audiences with his evolving career choices.
