Russia cautions the US about World War III risks.

Russia has warned the West about the dangers of allowing Ukraine to use Western missiles for deep strikes into Russian territory, cautioning that a potential World War III would extend beyond Europe. Following Ukraine’s attack on Russia’s Kursk region on August 6, President Vladimir Putin promised a strong response.

Sergei Lavrov, Russia’s long-serving foreign minister, accused the West of escalating the conflict by considering easing restrictions on Ukrainian use of foreign weapons and described this as seeking trouble. Lavrov emphasized that nuclear powers should avoid such dangerous provocations.

In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy claimed that Russia’s threats of retaliation were not credible, while urging allies to provide more substantial support. Russia has indicated that Western weapons have been used in the Kursk attack, although the U.S. denies involvement.

Russia’s foreign intelligence chief, Sergei Naryshkin, and Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov have suggested that the U.S. was complicit in the Kursk operation, despite Washington’s claims of no involvement. Reports indicate that the U.S. and Britain provided Ukraine with satellite imagery to track Russian movements following the attack.
