Urfan Sharif, 42, and his wife, Beinash Batool, 30, have been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of 10-year-old Sara Sharif, following a campaign of prolonged abuse. The tragic incident, which shocked the UK, led to Sara’s death on August 8, 2023, at their Surrey home. The jury at London’s Old Bailey found the couple guilty after deliberating for nearly 10 hours.
Sara endured severe injuries, including 25 fractures, a traumatic brain injury, burns, and bite marks, consistent with ongoing violence and mistreatment. The prosecution described the abuse as including physical restraint, hooding, and repeated beatings.

Sara’s uncle, Faisal Malik, 29, who also lived in the house, was convicted of causing or allowing her death.
Sara’s mother, Olga Sharif, expressed her grief in a statement, remembering her daughter for her bright smile and angelic voice. Sara’s death led to an international manhunt, with the family fleeing to Pakistan before being arrested upon their return to the UK.
